Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Josephine (Josie) Fresquez, 92, of Delta, who passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family during her final days in the home she lived in for 70 years.

Josephine was born on January 23, 1934. She lived a life grounded in faith, love, and devotion to her family, and she touched many lives with her kindness, strength, and compassionate spirit. She cherished time spent with her family and was known for her remarkable memory. Josephine especially enjoyed gardening, canning, collecting pigs, and caring for her plants and flowers. She took great pride in maintaining a beautiful home and yard, a reflection of the care and love she carried in her heart. She was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and enjoyed watching baseball and college basketball, playing 31, staying engaged with current events, and holding firmly to the beliefs and values that guided her life. She was always there to cheer on the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, rarely missing a game, event, or special moment. Whether traveling near or far, she showed her love through her unwavering support and the pride she carried for her family.

Her generous spirit was shown through quiet and anonymous acts of kindness, especially toward those in need. She gave freely to those often overlooked, extending compassion to local children, families facing hardships or crises, and those needing essential support. Her selfless heart was reflected not only in her service to others, but also in the unwavering love, guidance, and generosity she gave her family, who were profoundly blessed by her life.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Delta, where she sang in the choir and was involved in church activities throughout the years.

She is survived and lovingly cherished by her husband of 73 years, Thomas (Tom) Fresquez; her four beloved daughters, Sandra Fresquez (Carl), Shirley Rubio, Nancy Fresquez (Richard), and Judy Shay (Stephen); 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; 9 siblings; 12 Godchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Words cannot fully express what an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and sister she was.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered, while her love, strength, and kindness live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in the peace of the Lord.
