Jon Wittwer

April 11, 1937 — April 6, 2022

Jon Paul Wittwer, died suddenly on the 6th of April, 2022 at the age 84.

Born on the 11th of April, 1937 in Payson, Utah.  He was the son of the late Paul Archibald Wittwer and Geraldine Gardner Wittwer.

As a child, Jon and the family moved to parts the West coast where his father was stationed in the US Navy, finally settling in southern California.  Growing up near the beach gave Jon the freedom to enjoy water sports, surfing and sailing.

Jon graduated from Chula Vista high school and continued his education at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT where he studied Psychology. He received a bachelor’s degree from BYU and then attended the University of Utah for his graduate degree.

Jon was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

In Jon’s 1st career, he utilized his degree in Psychology as a Job Service Counselor for the State of Utah.  In the early 1980s, he worked in the oil and gas industry in western Colorado.  The final career for Jon was serving as a US Postal Service agent, delivering mail in Grand Junction for over 10 years until his retirement.

Jon enjoyed traveling, family, philosophy, golf, dancing and movies.  He was a hardworking man, dedicated to his family and a seeker of truth.

Jon was preceded in death by his father Paul A Wittwer, mother Geraldine G Wittwer and brothers, Timothy and Jim Wittwer.

Jon is survived by his daughter Glinda Wittwer (Michael) Bear, grand-daughter Yakira D McDonald, sister Becky Wittwer Gulledge and sister Sally Wittwer Wood.

The Celebration of Life for Jon Paul Wittwer will be private.
