Jon Clark De Fore, 82, passed away on August 31, 2026, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Born on November 27, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, Jon lived a full and active life shaped by family, service, faith, and the many interests that brought him joy.

Jon made his home in both San Diego, California, and Grand Junction, Colorado. He worked in the automotive industry with several dealerships, including Guy Hill Cadillac, Marvin K. Brown Cadillac, and Western Slope Auto. Cars were not only part of his career, but also one of the passions he carried throughout his life. He enjoyed working on cars and followed car racing with enthusiasm, including trips to El Cajon Speedway in California, Pomona Dragstrip in Pomona, California and Bandimere Speedway in Denver, Colorado.

Jon also served his country in the United States Army. Drafted during the Vietnam War, he served as an Army Private from May 18, 1965, to May 12, 1967, and received a Vietnam Service Marksman medal.

Life’s happiest moments for Jon were often the simplest and brightest. He loved surfing and especially enjoyed spending Father’s Day at the beach surfing. He liked riding bikes with his family and going to sporting events. Jon was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Family remained at the center of Jon’s life. He is survived by his daughter, Jozette De Fore Smith, and son-in-law, Brian Smith; his grandson, Carter Smith; his granddaughter, Natalie Smith; his son, John De Fore, and daughter-in-law, Michelle De Fore; his granddaughter, Madylyn De Fore; his grandson, Zachary De Fore; and his sister, Patricia Barr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette De Fore; his father, Jack De Fore; and his mother, Ruby De Fore.

Jon passed away on his 58th wedding anniversary, a date of special meaning to his family.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on September 26, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM at James M Robb State Park, 595 Highway 340 Fruita, CO 81521.

His life will be remembered with gratitude for the love, energy, and lasting memories he shared.
