John Gilbert Woodworth, 75, of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 22, 1950, John lived a life rooted in love, loyalty, and quiet strength. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 55 years, Sue (Adams) Woodworth, and a proud father to their two sons, Joel Woodworth and Jeff/Megan Woodworth. His greatest joy came from being “Grandpa” to his three grandchildren—Ashley, Dylan, and Adalin Woodworth—who brought him endless pride and happiness.
John was known for his steady presence, his wisdom, and the deep care he had for his family. Whether sharing a story, spending a sunny afternoon on the golf course, or simply sitting beside you in silence, his love was always felt.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert “Bub” Woodworth; his mother, Alda Woodworth; his sister, Jaynie Akeman (née Woodworth); his brother, William “Bill” Woodworth; and his granddaughter, Kristin Woodworth.
He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, family devotion, and a life well lived.
At John’s request, there will be no formal service.
In lieu of flowers, a John Woodworth memorial through FHSU Foundation has been set up.
These funds are used for the“Athletics Department unrestricted in memory of John Woodworth.”
