With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John "JB" Bennett, a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who left us on July 22, 2024.
JB was born April 30, 1960, to Melvin and Sharon Bennett. He grew up in Arvada, Colorado and graduated from Arvada West High School in 1978. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Colorado Mesa University and a master’s in finance from Denver University, where his dedication and hard work earned him a place on the Dean's List. He was also a CPA in the state of Colorado.
JB’s professional journey was marked by remarkable achievements. He began his career in accounting and went on to establish his own successful manufacturing and sales company. His innovative thinking and dedication to his field led him to become the CFO of a prominent tech company, where he garnered numerous industry awards and the respect of his peers. JB was also a pioneer in the consulting business, particularly in SEC filings for companies, where his forward-thinking approach set new standards.
Beyond his professional life, JB was drawn to the beauty of the ocean. He and Simone created a beautiful life together in Newport Beach, California, on Balboa Peninsula. Their home became a gathering place filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of friendship. After two decades by the sea, they returned to Grand Junction, Colorado, bringing with them the same spirit of hospitality and joy that had touched so many lives.
JB was a man of many talents. An avid golfer and barefoot water skier, he found joy in doing these things, along with river rafting, in the company of family and friends. He had a deep love for live music, often attending concerts and events where he could connect with the rhythm and energy of the performances. He was also incredibly handy, with a particular passion for fixing up old camp trailers. JB took great pride in restoring these vintage treasures, turning them into beautiful, functional spaces that reflected his creativity and craftsmanship.
JB is survived by his wife, Simone; his children, Casey (Kyle) Vaughn, Sammie (Isaac) DiYanni, Shane (Diana) Gillin, and Lauren Gillin; his mother, Sharon Bennett; his siblings, Melodee (Jeff) Bergin, Jim Bennett, Jennifer (Daryl) Kritch, and Mark (Dawn) Bennett; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
From the majestic mountains of Colorado to the sun-kissed beaches of Southern California, JB's memory will forever be cherished.
As we remember JB, we are reminded of the joy he brought into our lives and the legacy of love he leaves behind. Thank you, JB, for enriching our lives in so many ways. Until we meet again—Go with God.
