In Loving Memory of a Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished father, Joe Davis, who departed this world on April 28, 2025, after a hard-fought battle against Lewy Body Dementia. Born on May 9, 1941, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, he graced our lives with unwavering love, wisdom, and kindness that will forever be etched in our hearts.
Joe was not only a devoted father and husband, but also a source of strength and inspiration to everyone who knew him. He followed the principle of the “Golden Rule” and treated everyone he met with dignity and respect. He was the consummate salesman and enjoyed a long career selling construction equipment and farming implements. In addition to serving as a U.S. Marine, he held leadership positions in many service organizations, including 50 years in the Shriners Club, past Chairman in the United Way, Kiwanis and Citizens On Patrol (Mesa County Sheriff's Office). He leaves behind a legacy defined by integrity, hard work and compassion. Joe enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He taught his children to love and respect nature and their childhoods were filled with many weekends at Lake Powell or camping in the Rockies. Joe had a passion for aviation and used his pilot’s license to support his career in sales and took many trips with his young family in tow to Canada and many beautiful places across the West. Joe made friends easily with his quick wit and kind nature. In retirement, he and Kippy (his wife of 63 years) traveled thousands of miles across many states in their RV, making many friends along the way.
Beyond his achievements, Joe was the heart of our family. His marriage to Kippy was a model to everyone as they fully lived their vows to have and to hold, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part. Joe was a man of faith, he was humble and never spoke an ill word of anyone. He taught us the meaning of devotion and commitment to your spouse through good times and bad. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and some of his favorite moments were simply sharing stories at the dinner table, his presence brought warmth and laughter to our lives.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Kippy, their five children and spouses, Michael (DeLane), Jim (Beth), Miki (Dan), Marc (Stacy) and Mash (Pamela), 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide and comfort us in the days ahead.
A service to honor Joe's extraordinary life will be held on May 17, 2025 at 2pm at Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Services located at 904 N. 7th Street, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable person he was.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org).
Rest in peace, Dad. You will be deeply missed, but your love will remain with us always.
