Jimmy Mancuso

January 30, 1946 — March 19, 2017

J immy Lee Mancuso, age 71, died on March 19, 2017 following a long battle of Familial Amyloid Polyneuropathy. Fulfilling his final wish of gambling in Black Hawk, CO with his children by his side.

Born in Grand Junction, CO to the late Charles Mancuso and Patricia Warner.  Jim attended schools in Mesa County and graduated from GJHS in 1964.  He was a life-long TIGER!  He met the love of his life, Barbara Henderson at Goofy Gal Drive In.  They were married just shy of 50 years.

Jim had numerous jobs from managing restaurants, security, boat sales, to owning his own business, Mancuso’s Hydro Blasting.  And retiring from Boat Sales.

Jim enjoyed fishing, bow hunting, archery, camping and boating with his family by his side.  Always ready to tell a joke, and loved his many friends dearly.

Jim and Barb enjoyed retirement together until he was diagnosed with F.A.P.  In 2013 he entered a clinical trial in Indianapolis trying to help others who have this horrible disease.  Knowing it was too late for him, wanting to find a cure for his brother Rockie and others.

Jim fought a good fight to the end.  Never giving up or complaining,  he had a good sense of humor till the end.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Edna Southerland, brother, Chuckie and wife, Barbara.

He is survived by his son, Rick (Cathy) Mancuso, daughter, Melissa “Mo” (Cory) Madrid, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, brother, Rockie (Nita) Mancuso, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim also has two “honorary children” Cory Shipley of Grand Junction, and Jeannette Zink of McLouth, KS, along with his 2 rotten cats.  Also 2 stepbrothers, 1 stepsister, and his stepmother Barbara Mancuso, and numerous friends.

Celebration of life on April 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at Amy’s Courtyard, 3575 G Road, Palisade, CO.  Reception to follow with great food.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope West Hospice in memory of Jim Mancuso.
