Jeri Sue Keller Thompson, 83, passed away on Thursday, October 31 at her daughter’s home.
Jeri was born to Karl John Keller and Eula Mae Sauerbrunn on May 25, 1941 in San Diego, California. They moved around the country to various military bases until the family settled in their native city of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She graduated from Pine Bluff Hugh School in 1959. She also studied at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia.
She married Charles T. Thompson, Jr in Marshall, Texas on June 8, 1965, and they had four children. She was a dedicated minister’s wife for many years and worked as a secretary in DeWitt, Arkansas until she retired. Jeri was an active member of First Baptist Church of Almyra, Arkansas where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Gene Whitehurst.
Jeri is survived by her sister, Sandra Whitehurst, children: Sarah McBroom (Ray) of Mack, Colorado; Angela (Carl) Lawson of Almyra, Arkansas; John (Beth) Thompson of Wynne, Arkansas; and Christopher (Natalie) Holzinger of Harrisonburg, Virginia; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be performed at a later date. Memorials can be made in Jeri’s name to First Baptist Church of Almyra (PO Box 211, Almyra, AR 72003).
