James Hesterly Robinson, age 89, died September 10, 2023 in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Born November 23, 1933 in Nevada County, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Nellie Robinson.
James graduated from Fairview High School in Camden, Arkansas. He and his wife Ellen married in 1957.
James spent 22 years in the United States Air Force during the 1950's, 60's and 70's. He spent these years having served as a Master Sergeant Munitions Specialist with tours in Korea, Vietnam and Japan. He was always proud of his son being "made in Japan." Following his time in the Air Force, James worked at Denver University for 10 years as a senior research technician before retiring to Grand Junction, CO in 1987.
His 36 years of retirement were enjoyed taking many trips to Arkansas to visit family and friends and hunting every fall near Steamboat Springs with his son, Terry. He was a member of the Western Slope ATV association for many years and enjoyed time outdoors.
James was preceded in death by: parents Lloyd and Nellie Robinson, brother Martin Robinson and daughter Sheila Robinson Munoz.
James is survived by: wife Lorene “Ellen” Robinson of Grand Junction, CO, brother Virgil Robinson of Seattle, WA, sister Martha Kay Hackney of Early, TX and sister-in-law Marilyn Robinson of Camden, AR, son Terry (Brenda) Robinson of Grand Junction, CO and daughter Pam Robinson of Estes Park, CO and many grandkids, nephews and nieces.
An internment date will follow at the veterans memorial cemetery in Grand Junction, Colorado.
