James Dallas Patterson passed away from cancer at Community Hospital in Grand Junction on July 11th. His last moments were spent with his wife, Linda, and sons Matt and Clint.

Jim was born in Cutler, Illinois on October 18, 1946, the fifth child of Manuel and Nellie Patterson. In 1963 he joined the Navy, where he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Jim received commendations for his service as a communications officer onboard the U.S.S. Mount McKinley. He was honorably discharged in 1971.

After the service he met and married Linda Faye Stout. The two settled in Grand Junction, where they raised two sons, Matt (1973) and Clint (1978). He supported his family as a sales representative for building supply companies, including R.W. Specialties.

Jim is survived by Linda, Matt, Clint, sisters Cleta Mae and Darlene, and two granddaughters, Fable, 11, and Ophelia, 7, who adored their Papa and whose company gave him the greatest joy in his retirement.
