Hannelore Renate Morey

November 8, 1944 — October 16, 2023

Hanna Morey left this physical world on Monday, October 16th, 2023 at her home in Grand Junction following a long battle with multiple health issues.

She was born November 8, 1944, in Vienna, Austria as WW II was coming to a close. Her early childhood in this environment impacted the rest of her life - some positive and some not so much. Hanna’s adolescence was spent in various areas of Europe and then later, when her Mother married a US Serviceman, as a traveling military kid.

She later worked in nursing in Munich, Germany, and, after moving to Colorado, she pursued her interest in working with animals. She also had an amazing “green thumb”, and her house was filled with plants that she took great care of….some were with her for over two decades! While she tended to be solitary, Hanna loved being in nature and seeing areas of the Southwest with her husband and two sons. When grandchildren came into the picture, this also brought smiles and a sense of youth when they visited.

Hanna was always quick to ask, “How are you doing?” She never wanted much and rarely asked for anything. She led a simple and honest life and was an environmental steward long before there were any such titles!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Red” Morey.

Hanna is survived by: sons Rick and Rob, daughter-in-law Kirsten, grandchildren Micah and Jade and her younger sister Christina Robinson.

She will be missed
