Gregory Francis Haske

May 31st, 1953- August 9th, 2022

Our family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved brother, Gregory Francis Haske, on Tuesday, August 9th, 2022, at the age of 69.  He transcended this life peacefully at his home in Clifton, CO in the company of close friends.

Born May 31st, 1953 in Montgomery County, MD to his late parents Marian and Frank “Bud” Haske, Greg spent his youth developing an independent, fun loving spirit, that earned him many friends and good times.

A cross country trip in Greg’s late 20’s led to his love of the West.  He left his life in Maryland behind him, and eventually settled in Chaffee County, Colorado near his late brother Tim Haske, his family, and their mother and late step-father, Lee S. Miller.

Greg worked hard, and played hard, enjoying the mountain lifestyle.  He became an avid mountain biker and back country skier, and along with friends and brother Tim, enjoyed numerous adventures throughout Colorado and Utah.

Later in life, Greg relocated to the Western Slope, working in Grand Junction, buying a home and eventually retiring in Clifton, CO, where he continued enjoying the high desert of the Colorado Plateau, camping, exploring and target shooting.  He was also able to spend precious years with our Stepfather Lee prior to his passing in 2015, our Mother, who passed in August of 2020, and our dear brother Tim, whom we lost earlier this year.

Nicknamed “Gucci” by his friends, Greg was at heart a country boy, loving music, sports, the outdoors, and a good time whenever possible.  While Greg could be gruff and cranky on the outside, those who knew him loved him for it, knowing he was kind and loving to his friends and family.  We will miss him greatly.

Our family would like to extend special thanks to Ms. Sharon Brookes, Greg’s longtime friend, who was there for him every day as his health declined, giving him the ability to remain in his home as he wished.  Thank you also to Greg’s lifelong friend, Chuck Pine, with whom he shared his final “good times”  Bless you both.

Greg is survived by brothers Thomas Haske of Haymarket, VA, Daniel Haske of Germantown, MD, sister JoAnn Parker of Silver Spring, MD, step sisters Ellen Lynn of Castle Pines, CO and Joanne Young of Melbourne, FL, his beloved nieces Abigail, Amy, Carolyn, Christie, Holly, Sarah, and Sharon, nephews Derek, Joseph and Michael, his in-laws, cousins and many, many friends!  We’re all saddened by your passing, but happy for your eternal peace.
