Gordon Giddings passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction. He was born on September 21, 1941, in Burt, Iowa.
He is the son of William P. Giddings and Nettie May (Grover) Giddings, and he was the third son of seven children. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother Gary.
He is survived by his brothers Grover of TX; Roger and Craig of Iowa; Neal of Missouri and his sister Gail from California, as well as his son, William Giddings. He is also survived by his good friends Adeleida Martin, Clifford Sutherland and Tina Creek; Tim Thompson; and Luis Hernandez.
Gordy, as we liked to call him, was a Navy veteran. He spent 14 months in Vietnam (1962/64). He was active in his church and volunteered at the local food pantry. He made his living as a concrete mason and in later years as a superintendent of large concrete jobs.
Gordon enjoyed spending time with the people who he loved, and he always had dogs and loved them dearly.
Fishing and gardening were two of his favorite hobbies and he was quite good at both. Gordy loved spending time in the mountains where he lived and often hunted big game. He had a great sense of humor. It was rather rare to have a conversation with him without him telling you at least one joke! He will be missed.
The date for his Celebration of Life will be announced when available.
