Obituary

Gordon Barker June 20, 1935 – May 25, 2026 Grand Junction, Colorado · Age 90 Gordon Barker, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of the Grand Junction community, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, in the city he called home for nearly all of his ninety years. He was born on June 20, 1935, to Charles Roy Barker and Margaret Geary Barker, and from his earliest days, Grand Junction was in his bones. Gordon grew up in Grand Junction and attended Central High School, where he laid the foundation for a life defined by hard work, community, and deep personal loyalty. On July 3, 1954, he married Judie Crawford, and together they welcomed two children, Geoffrey and Leslie, beginning a chapter of his life that would shape the family he cherished. On June 1, 1970, Gordon married Ellen Ewing, and together they built a life rooted in Grand Junction, returning to settle there in 1973. The two made a wonderful home — growing a garden that friends and family still talk about, managing his irrigation chapter with quiet pride, and spending countless afternoons cheering on the Colorado Rockies from their season tickets. Gordon lived in that home for fifty-one years, a testament to roots that ran as deep as any he ever planted. An entrepreneur at heart, Gordon partnered with his son Calvin and Ellen to found 4B in 1979, a small business built on hard work and family trust. That spirit never left him. In his later years he continued delivering caramels to local convenience stores under the banner of Papa G Snax — a labor of love he kept up until his final days, bringing a little sweetness to his corner of the world. Faith was central to Gordon's life. He was a faithful elder at Clifton Christian Church and gave generously of his time to the church's youth program in the early 2000s, investing in the next generation with the same warmth and steadiness he offered to everyone around him. On March 1, 2002, he married Marsha Barker, and they shared more than two decades together until her passing in August 2023. Gordon leaves behind three devoted children — Geoffrey Barker, Leslie Barker, and Calvin Barker — and four grandchildren: Andrea Dick (Barker), her husband Mark Dick, Lacie Barker, Seth Barker, Jessica Barker, Mikhail Lynn, and Katrina Lynn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Roy Barker and Margaret Geary Barker; his beloved wife Marsha Barker; his late wife Ellen Barker (Ewing); and his siblings Phil Barker and Carol Pippenger. Gordon Barker lived ninety years with purpose, generosity, and grace. He tended his garden, minded his community, delivered caramels with a smile, and loved his family without reservation. Grand Junction is a better place for the life he lived here. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Clifton Christian Church · Grand Junction, Colorado
