GINGER ANNETTE SCHNEIDER, age 82, went home to be with her heavenly Father on July 18, 2016, after a brief illness. She was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
Ginger was born on November 2, 1933, in Knowles, Oklahoma. She was the only child of Ray Dixon and Dixie (Hays) Dixon. She and her parents moved around the country while she was growing up, living in Oklahoma, Nevada, California and Colorado.
She met the “man of her dreams”, Elmer Schneider, in 1954, and they were married on September 19, 1954. They made their home in Denver, Colorado.
Ginger was mother to four children, only two of which survived infancy - Laurel Kay (Schneider) Grossaint and Eric Karl Schneider. When her children were young, she and her husband were fortunate to be chosen to serve as missionaries in Lukasa, Zambia. The whole family moved to Africa and help provide services to local Zambian families. Their African experience lasted 6 years and was an exceptionally profound and bonding experience for the whole family. They relocated back to the States in 1972, and later moved to Grand Junction in 1974, where she and Elmer bought and operated Wilson and Younge printing business for many years.
She had many friends and was a devout member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Junction. Her faith was very important to her and supported her through many difficult times. Over the years she chose to share Christ with the world by dedicating much of her heart and time to Lutherans For Life and Stephen Ministries.
Ginger was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Schneider, her parents, and two children. She is survived by her daughter, Laurel (Arden) Grossaint, Greeley, Colorado, and son, Eric (Mary Lynn) Schneider, Grand Junction, Colorado. She also had 6 grandchildren, Luke (Miranda) Grossaint, Jennifer (Matt) Stewart, Justin (Kylie) Grossaint, Scott (Debbie) Schneider, Brandon (Morgan) Schneider and Preston Schneider. Ginger and Elmer were also blessed with 12 great grandchildren, with another one arriving in late September. Her family was her greatest source of joy and happiness.
Memorial services will be held on July 30, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., at the Messiah Lutheran Church, located at 840 N. 11th Street, Grand Junction, Colorado.
Any charitable contributions in Ginger’s memory may be made to HopeWest or the Messiah Lutheran Church.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Services.
