Gerry Edward Spomer

January 15, 1942 — September 25, 2024

Gerald "Gerry" Spomer was born in Clifton Colorado to Ed and Marge Spomer on January 15 1942 Gerry spent all of his childhood in the Grand Junction Area. Gerry went to elementary school and Jr high on Orchard Mesa and then Graduated Grand Junction High School in 1960.

 After High school Gerry left for the Army. He was stationed in France where he served as an MP.

When he returned, he went to work for his dad as a home builder. He and Ed built numerous homes in the Grand Valley before Gerry went out on his own. Soon after, he took ownership of SPOMER Construction. He continued to build and develop in Grand Junction until he retired in 2004.Gerry had many talents and hobbies. He had a very extensive music collection. His passion after he retired quickly became restoring Hot Rod Cars. In his later years he started building a collection of model airplanes that now hang proudly in his shop.

Gerry loved having fun with family and friends. He spent time at Lake Powell. He enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling on the Grand Mesa at the cabin he built. He also loved hunting, golf, bowling and camping. He was also known to be quite a dancer, but only when you could get him on the dance floor!

Gerry married Kathy Deppe on June 24th of 1988. Together, Kathy as a Realtor, and Gerry as General Contractor, they were a perfect match. They continued to develop, build and sell residential real estate in Grand Junction until Gerry's retirement. Together they were extremely proud of their blended family and so enjoyed all of the events, family gatherings and fun that they shared with their family.

 Gerry is survived by his wife Kathy. His son's Darren (Deb) Spomer and Cameron (Leslie) Deppe, his Daughter Paula (Darin) Bice. He had 10 Grand Children and One Great grandson. One Sister Sharon (Bill) Lowell and a brother-in-law Marlan (Lois) Croissant. He was proceeded in death by his parents and one grandchild. 

Gerry was under the care of hospice and enjoyed seeing many friends and family prior to him peacefully passing on September 25 2024 at his home.

Services and Reception are scheduled for October 5th, 2024 at 11am. Both will be held at The River Church 636 29 Road Grand Junction Co 81504. The family welcomes you all. At the request of the family HOT RODS ARE WELCOME.
