George Ortiz

May 20, 1944 — August 14, 2014

George Ortiz, age 70, of Grand Junction, CO passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Hope West Hospice Care Facility.

Born May 20, 1944 in Trinidad, CO, he was the son of Bonafacio and Molly Salas Ortiz.  Mr. Ortiz had been employed as a motel manager.  He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Ortiz.

George was a fun loving man whose family meant everything to him.  His grandchildren always made him smile and brought him continuous joy.  He loved the outdoors and took every opportunity to go fishing and camping.  George was good at working with his hands.  He loved spending time building model cars, and he developed a skill of working with intricate and tiny parts.  He also enjoyed working on full size cars, too.

He is survied by his wife, Corina Lucille Ortiz, two sons, Guy (Teri) Ortiz, Fruita, CO, George Ortiz, Denver, CO, three daughters, Donna (Bion) Ortiz, Grand Junction, Bonnie Sandoval, Montrose, CO, Angel Bettcher-Ortiz, Grand Junction, a daughter-in-law, Jessica Fields, Grand Junction, two stepsons, Brad and Ryan Bettcher, both of Topeka, KS, one stepdaughter, Devan Bettcher, Grand Junction, two sisters, Shirley (Alan) Dale, Buena Vista, CO and Mary Jane Chavez, La Junta, CO.  Twenty-eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.  He is also survived by Zola Bettcher.

He is gone, but will never be forgotten.  His memory will live on in our hearts!
