George was called home to be with the Lord Dec. 5, 2023 and is at peace. He was born on
January 19, 1946 in Denver and later adopted by Merle and Evelyn Lund. He grew up in
Paonia, Colorado and attended college in Pueblo where he received a degree in Diesel
Mechanics. He met Pat on a blind date and they were married in 1968. Shortly thereafter he
was drafted in to the Army and stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. With 8 months left, he came down
on levy and was flown to Quang Tri Vietnam, 6 mi south of the DMZ.
George and Pat returned to Paonia, where they raised 3 children. George was employed by
Lund Bros. Fruit and the Town of Paonia. He served on the Volunteer Fire Dept for many years.
In 1997, Pat and George hosted a foreign exchange student from the Philippines.
After retirement, the couple moved to Grand Junction where George served on the senior
committee at Victory Life Church and enjoyed riding his recumbent bike with Bill Ohare, many
times riding 50 miles a day. George also enjoyed Wednesday morning coffee club with fellow
vets at the VA.
George was a loving husband to Pat, devoted to children, Michaele, Eric, and Ted & a Vietnam
He’s survived by wife, Pat, children, Michaele Scofield and her husband Casey (Colorado
Springs, CO), Eric Lund and his wife Cassie (Phenix City, AL), and Ted Lund and his wife Casi
(Castle Rock, CO), and his sister Sharon Howard and her husband Dave (Gallatin, TN). George
loved his 6 grandchildren.
