Franklin Gary Ewing

March 11, 1962 — December 1, 2025

Franklin “Gary” Ewing II, age 63, of Clifton, Colorado, passed away on December 1, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children.

Gary was born March 11, 1962, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Frank and Zelle Ewing. The oldest of four boys: Vic, Kevin and Tony. He was affectionately called the “blue-eyed Colorado brother” by his siblings. He moved to Colorado in 1978, where he met and later married the catch of his life, Laurie McKay, on August 24, 1980. They shared 45 years of marriage and raised their family in Clifton, living in the same home throughout their life together.

Gary and Laurie were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 8, 1982, and raised their children with the same values and truths that they loved. In their study of the Bible, they learned about the resurrection hope. This hope has helped the family endure his loss, knowing they will see him again in paradise.

Gary was known for his concern for others and his desire to help them in practical ways. He loved calling his friends and family to chat and visit a bit. He could start a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed sitting outside feeding and listening to the variety of birds. He also enjoyed being in the presence of his grandkids. He loved them each in a special way. When he had a meal or drink he loved, he would always say it was ‘dreamy good’. He was known for his “need” of multiple vehicles. He thoroughly enjoyed working on them and doing preventative maintenance. He also had many ideas to improve things. He valued safety, practicality, and quality in any project he had.

Gary had various jobs throughout his life, starting with helping his father with auto mechanics and working for multiple family members in the Tree Services Industry. Later, he worked at Pabco Insulation Plant and the Deep Rock Water Plant, and then went on to own and operate his own lawn care business for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Zelle Mom, his stepmother, Ginny, and brothers Kevin and Tony. He is survived by his wife Laurie; children Greg (Brandi) Ewing and Melissa (Chris) Brown; grandchildren Deagan, Delaney, Izabella, Wesley, and Liam; brother Vic Ewing; and nieces and nephews, great niece and great nephew, his sister-in-law Wendy, his Uncle John Ewing, and cousins.

We long for the day when we can hear him say: “Well hello there, this is Gary here…”
