Loree Etta Williams, age 94, died peacefully on August 27, 2025, in her home in Grand Junction, CO. She was born June 27, 1931, in Montrose, CO. She was the daughter of the late Charles Earl Stockton and Susan Leola York.
Loree attended various high schools within the Western Slope of Colorado. During her younger years, her family followed a pioneering way of life residing in various locations from Denver to Eastern Utah. During her adult years she often relocated to various homes from coast to coast including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, and California.
Loree had been employed within the home health care industry for many years in several states and cared for numerous in-home patients. While living in Pennsylvania, she was employed at the Josh Early Candies location in Lehigh Valley, often sharing excess candies with her family.
Loree was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, cooking, canning, and homemaking; she was once referred to as “Mrs. Clean” by a realtor on a home listing. She was highly dedicated to family, her home, community, neighbors and friends.
Loree was preceded in death by her second husband (and love of her life) William Bradford Williams, first husband Richard Warren Close, her parents and all five siblings. She is survived by four children; Glen Close (Carla Close), Sherry Bley (Bill Tarvin), Sam Williams (Elisabeth Wolf) and Susan Williams; twelve grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Services will be held to celebrate Loree’s life at a later date, close to her birthdate in 2026 at the Veterans Cemetery in Grand Junction, CO. Please consider making a memorial contribution in Loree’s name to the Food Bank of the Rockies.
