Elizabeth Anne Philbrook

April 29, 1936 — July 20, 2023

Elizabeth Anne (Mimi) Philbrook, 87, of Clifton, CO, passed away July 20th, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital - Grand Junction. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson (Phil) Philbrook. She is survived by her two sons Robert and Mark and spouse Sherrie, and daughter Mary Anne and spouse Jerry, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mimi celebrated life with every cell of her being. Her spunky fun-loving personality resonated in her daily life. Her caring and compassionate nature helped and nurtured many throughout her life. From an early age her radiant smile and undeniable beauty filled every space she entered. She never met a stranger and wanted to help everyone. Mimi always put her family first and filled her home with love.

The Catholic Church and her faith were very important to Mimi. She was actively involved with St. Ann's Catholic Church in Palisade, volunteering to help with any church event. She also volunteered at the Migrant Center in Palisade.

In early retirement Mimi loved to volunteer with the Challenge Aspen program for disabled veterans, and also veterans and first responders with PTSD. The equine program took place each Summer in Snowmass and being an active horse woman, Mimi was a perfect fit for the program. It was a favorite of hers.

In 2011 Mimi joined St. Mary's Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion program for the Grand Valley. Mimi loved being a foster grandparent at the Rocky Mountain Elementary School in Clifton. Affectionately known as Grandma Mimi, she mentored students from 1st through 3rd grades during her eight years with the program. Many of her students are now in high school and remember Grandma Mimi.

Mimi loved the outdoors, especially the mountains. She often found comfort hiking the mountain trails or sitting by  a creek reading a book. She was active in most Winter and Summer sports and recreation including barrel racing on her favorite quarter horse, Wild Twist. Her children and grandchildren share many wonderful memories and past times within nature. Memorial services will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Palisade, CO Friday, July 28, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Grand Valley Catholic Outreach or to St. Ann's Catholic Church.
