Derrick Sobolewski, 59 years old, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026. Born on October 4, 1966 to Norbert Sobolewski and Jadwiga Sobolewska, Derrick grew up in Bialystok before moving to America, where he successfully owned and operated a construction company for over 30 years. Derrick was larger than life. Charismatic and boundlessly energetic, he was the life of the party, a gracious host, a talented jack of all trades, and a friend to all. His infectious spirit was matched only by his diverse passions; he was a geography expert, a fierce supporter of Jagiellonia Bialystok football club, a mushroom forager, an animal lover, and a lifelong ski fanatic. Whether downhill or cross-country skiing, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, or beautifully remodeling and landscaping his homes and gardens, Derrick was happiest being in motion and surrounded by nature. He loved road-tripping across North America, traveling back to his dear Poland and throughout Europe, listening to classic rock music, and playing with his dogs and cats. Above all, Derrick lived with a courageous heart, constantly inspiring his family and friends to immerse themselves in nature and fearlessly embrace whatever scared them. Derrick is survived by his beloved wife, Anna, and his cherished children, Pamela, Catherine, and Sebastian. He was preceded in death by his father, Norbert. An intimate family viewing will be held on September 11, 2026, in Grand Junction, CO. A larger celebration of life will be held at a later date. Rest in powder, Derrick.
