Dennis Brian Terhune passed away on November 8, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was born on May 11, 1959, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and spent much of his youth in Sacramento, California, where he was raised by his parents, Jewell Fleming and John Bert.
A few years after graduating high school, Dennis proudly joined the U.S. Army, dedicating 25 years of his life to serving his country. He served honorably in both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, taking great pride in his duty and commitment.
After retiring from the military, Dennis continued to serve his community as both a weekend warrior and a medical lab courier — a job that led him to meet the love of his life, Karen. The two married and shared 35 wonderful years together, their love remaining steadfast and true through every moment. He and Karen moved to Colorado in 2012 for a fresh start and new adventure.
Dennis will be remembered for his hard work, dedication, and unwavering kindness. He was a gentle soul who found joy in nature and often enjoyed running outdoors. Though quiet by nature, Dennis’s warmth and charm shone through in all he did. Each holiday season, he delighted in dressing up as Santa Claus for his nieces, nephews, and countless lucky children — a gesture he offered freely, out of pure generosity and love.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jewell Terhune, and his brother, John.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate professionals at St. Mary’s Hospital for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
Dennis will be placed at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon California in Spring of 2026.
