David Ray Winters known to his family and friends as Dave, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, at the age of 81.

Born on December 2, 1944, in Belvidere, Kansas, to Beula Mae and Kenneth Winters, Dave grew up to become a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed wood working and would often spend time in his work shop with his grandchildren teaching them about constructing fine wood working projects. During his lifetime, he produced many works of art that have become family heirlooms that have been passed down from his grandchildren to his great grandchildren. His legacy lives on in these items and shows his commitment to producing works of art that are cherished by generations to come.

Dave’s life was marked by his dedication to his wife and family. He married his wife, Olive in 1966, and together they built a life and raised their children, Wiley (wife: Miwako), Kimberly (husband: Joe), and Jake (wife: Naomi). All of his children went on to raise their own families and provided Dave with grand and great grandchildren which he enjoyed spending time with immensely.

Dave is survived by his children Wiley, Kimberly and Jake. In addition, he is also survived by his grandchildren Anna Motler, Kalina Marsoff, DJ Winters, Jon Winters, Joseph Meier, Derrik Meier, Haily Brown, and Jason Meier. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother.

As per Dave's request, there will be no memorial service. However, he will be laid to rest at the Grand Junction Veteran's Cemetery on October 23, 2026. His family and friends will remember his honesty, love of life, and desire to pass on his knowledge to younger generations, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
