Cynthia Lynn Rupe

June 4, 1952 — June 22, 2025

Cynthia Lynn (Cindy) Rupe passed away at home on June 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with a long illness. She faced every challenge with remarkable strength, grace, and resilience, inspiring all who knew her.

Cindy was born on June 4, 1952, in Denver, Colorado, to Gladys and Hubert Hall, and proud big sister, Connie. They lived in Parker, CO, where her paternal grandfather owned the general store. They later moved to Englewood, CO.

Her father was transferred to Grand Junction when she was in 6th grade. After her father passed, she and her mother moved from Grand Junction back to the Denver area to be closer to family. She attended Hinckley High School, and upon graduation, came back to Grand Junction to attend Mesa State Junior College. She majored in travel and recreation management and minored in small business management. During college, she worked for the summer at the Copper King Mansion in Butte, Montana.

Upon her return to Grand Junction, she met and married Jerry Rupe on June 17, 1972. She was the receptionist for Mesa Mack until the birth of their first daughter, Brooke in 1977. In 1979, she went to work at Powderhorn.

Cindy and Jerry both loved the outdoors and decided to move to Anchorage, Alaska, in the Fall of 1983. While in Alaska, Cindy volunteered at Airport Heights Elementary School for several years. Their second daughter, Brandi, was born in the fall of 1985. Many adventures were had during their time in Alaska.

They returned to Grand Junction in 1987. Shortly after their return, Cindy went to work for SOS Staffing Services and worked there for over 25 years. She was proud of her work, connecting with others and helping them find jobs.

Cindy enjoyed dining out, watching cooking shows, baking, reading, and animals, especially her beloved Basset Hound, Boonie. Her true passion was her family. She was most proud of her daughters, sons-in-laws and grandchildren. She was happiest when spending time with them, they were her entire world. She was always the first to call them to wish them “Happy Birthday”. Cindy had a heart for the Lord. She loved working in the nursery of her church. Cindy touched many lives and the memories she has created won’t be forgotten. Her baked goods, hand-made Christmas ornaments, contagious smile, and laugh will be dearly missed.

Cindy was predeceased in death by her husband, Jerry, in 2022. She is survived by her daughters, Brooke Edwards and Brandi Smith, sons-in-law Preston Edwards and Ryan Smith, her sister Connie Higgs, and grandchildren, Tanner and Braden Edwards and Emma and Lane Smith, and several loving nieces and nephews.
