Colleen Lynette Woods

Colleen Lynette Woods, age 64 died July 10, 2023 after a short battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born June 21, 1959 in Grand Junction Colorado to Emil and Roberta Woods.
Colleen attended Eagle Valley High School and Mesa State college.

She had been a long time employee at St Mary’s Hospital where she served as an Administrative Assistant primarily in the Radiology Oncology Department. She was with St Mary’s for 22 years.

She was a member of the St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Colleen was an avid reader, loved music and loved animals, especially dogs. Her most recent fur baby, Foxy, has found a loving home with a dear friend who will spoil her just like Colleen.

Colleen was a devoted daughter, sister, and friend to so many. She considered the Oncology Department her work family. She was hard working and had a quick wit.  Known for her love of pins and brooches she had something for every occasion.

Colleen was preceded in death by Emil Eugene Woods (father), Roberta Jane Woods (mother), Kenton Lynn Woods (twin brother), and Richard Whitacre (long time partner).

Colleen is survived by her brother Edward Eugene Woods of Goodland Kansas, sister Elaine Cheek (Wendell) of Coeur d’Alene Idaho, Richard Jason Whitacre and Darick Whitacre of Grand Junction. She is survived by several cousins, with  Kemra Peska (Joe) having a special bond.  

Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Service, 904 N. 7^th Street, Grand Junction Colorado. Reception will be held at 1230 at St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 632 26 ½ Road, Grand Junction Colorado.
