Claudia Sharkey

On August 31, 2022 Our Beloved Claudia Sue Sharkey ( Suzie) left our world and joined her lord in heaven. Claudia was born in Springfield Ohio on January 14, 1945 to Clyde and Betty Wilt. The entire family moved to Pomona California in the early 1950’s. She attended Ganesha High school in Pomona, where she Graduated with honors. Claudia also worked at Pacific state hospital where she met her husband in 1963. Married and gave birth to her only child, a daughter named Sabra on July 9, 1964. She then moved to Orange county California in 69’, where she worked at Tasty Freeze side by side with the whole fam damily! She showed her daughter an amazing life full of travel and adventures! She really was an incredible mother and grandmother! After almost 25 years in California, the whole family migrated to Colorado in 1981.

On June 7, 1985 in Meeker, Colorado she was blessed with a granddaughter, Brittany and was then blessed again with a grandson ,Shaun on April 6, 1987 in Glenwood Springs. She Started her position at Mountain Valley ( assisted living group home) where she found her calling. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was very active in the Special Olympics, where she volunteered for over 15 years! Claudia was so kind and caring to everyone around her, always involved and helping others to no end. She was a natural born caregiver! She worked at MDS/Strive for many years as well and retired in 2005. When she wasn't working multiple jobs she enjoyed playing bingo and the occasional trips to vegas! She was a Huge Elvis fan, and saw him in concert  every chance she got! Once even received a scarf from Elvis himself at one of his Vegas shows, she ended up giving that very scarf to another huge Elvis fan who was a client of hers. That's just one story of her kind and generous nature. That's who she was, she was an angel on earth.

After her retirement in 2005, she continued to be the sole caregiver of her parents until their passing in 2007 and 2014. Claudia is preceded in death by her Parents Clyde and Betty Wilt, her cousin Jeff Gammel,  Aunt Margie Gammel and her Great Grandson Nicholas  O’Byrne. She is survived by her daughter Sabra White , her grandchildren Brittany, and Shaun O’byrne, her Great grandchildren Brodie and Maddie Conklin and Isabelle O’Byrne. Her cousins, Kurt, Sandy , Dixie , Larry Jill and Elizabeth Carlson. She will be missed and is loved dearly.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Joseph Center located at 2511 Belford ave. on September 17, 2022 At 3:00 pm.
