Christopher Allen Beardsley, age 64, passed away on January 1, 2026, following a brief illness.
Born November 30th, 1961, he was the son of Edward Beardsley and Joan Haley.
He was employed as a Security officer at Mesa Mall in Grand Junction, CO since May 1998. He had also worked as an Animal Control officer in Grand Junction and Sunnyvale, California for many years.
Chris had a courageous and adventurous spirit, and a strong passion for travel, animals, and the environment. He spent much of his time hiking along the Pacific coast, as well as the Colorado National Monument and the Grand Canyon. In 2016 he went on a month-long backpacking trip along the Grand Canyon with like-minded outdoor enthusiasts. He also visited places like Bhutan and Thailand, and in the 1980s took an epic overland trip across Europe and Asia. Chris had a deep love for animals. In 2008 when his daughter Kristine hit a volleyball over a fence, Chris retrieved the ball and found a cold and hungry stray kitten in the field. He nurtured her back to health and brought her home. He named her "Katrina" for the hurricane (ongoing at the time), and she spent the next 18 years as his loyal and adored companion.
Chris is survived by his son (Zachary) and daughter (Kristine), as well as his sister (Karen), brother-in-law (Steven) and niece (Rebecca).
