Christine “Chris” Wilson, 61, of Grand Junction, CO passed away after a brief illness she incurred while battling terminal brain cancer on February 19, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born in Lamar, CO in 1964 to Lynn and Verna Holmes. She was the last born of four and was quite a surprise! This led to sharing the bond of ‘Irish Twins’ with her barely older sister of 11 months, Wendy! Chris graduated from Moffat County High School in 1983, after the birth of her first-born daughter, Crystal. As a teen mother, she was able to obtain her Cosmetology License from The Academy of Beauty Culture, graduating in 1985. Shortly thereafter, she met her husband and love of her life, Jerry, and they married in May of 1986. They shared almost 40 years of marriage, having two more daughters together, Elizabeth and Diedra. Chris was also a great mom to Jonathon, Jerry’s son, for many years. She was a beloved Nana to seven grandchildren and many ‘bonus’ grandkids she had along the way. Chris dedicated almost 20 years to her career at City Market and then found her niche in the Beauty Industry again in 2004 working for Salon Centric (formerly Peel’s) up until her illness wouldn’t allow her to. There wasn’t a face she couldn’t light up, or a task she couldn’t accomplish. When she wasn’t serving her customers, she loved spending time with her family. Whether it was going on an adventure with her husband Jerry, and traveling to new places, or cheering her grandkids on at whatever activity she could, she was always a present and beautiful person. She had an incredible singing voice, and could tell you a great joke at any moment. Her presence was truly unmatched. Chris was preceded in death by her father, Lynn Holmes. She is survived by her mother, Verna Holmes, brothers Dennis (Shawna) Holmes, Scott (Chris) Holmes, sister, Wendy (Dale) Joy, daughters Crystal Barker, Elizabeth Wilson and Diedra Wilson, stepson Jonathon Killgore and her pride and joy, her grandbabies, Riley Killgore, Nathan Hester, Reece Wilson, Simon Firm, Bryson Killgore, Jocelyn Firm and Caden Doyle. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
