Christine Marie Wallace was born in Denver on November 21, 1952. Her parents were George M and Alice W Wallace. She grew up with her 4 years older brother, Rob.
Growing up, Christine and her family often went up to and spent time at Grand Lake. She related those times were some of her best childhood memories.
At the age of 17, her parents sent her to Judson, a private school in Scottsdale Arizona. She took her horse, Fancy Pants, and trailer. The school had stables and an arena. Rodeo was part of the ciriculum and barrel racing was her passion. Christine graduated in 1970.
Christine married in 1972 and moved to Germany as a military wife. She traveled Europe extensively and Switzerland was her favorite. She returned to Colorado in time to give birth to her son, Jeremy. She worked for a number of years at the National Western Stock Show in Denver. Next she attended nursing school at Arapahoe Community College and earned an Associates Degree in Nursing. As a single mother, Christine worked as an RN at Presbyterian St. Lukes for 8 years.
Christine moved to Grand Junction in 1998 and began working at St. Marys Hospital. She loved being a Nurse. Christine worked at St. Marys until she retired in 2016. After retirement she spent many hours as a volunteer at St. Marys, RSVP, and Hope West. She and her good friend, Judy, delivered Meals on Wheels. Christine trained her miniature poodle, Cache, to be a licensed therapy dog. They worked as a team to visit many patients in need of an uplift.
Christine and Kit married on March 20, 2000. They worked hard to fix up and sell a couple houses until they moved into their current abode. They considered this current residence their forever home.
They traveled to Mexico a number of times and Las Vegas a good number of times. In Vegas they attended any headline shows they could squeeze in. They loved the shopping and the all day buffets. Their favorite destination was Montana. They did the tourist stuff and prospected for gemstones. Eventually, they bought a 26 acre ridge overlooking the Missouri River Valley.... and that is where Christine requested her ashes be spread.
One of their favorite activities was participation in Community Concerts of the Grand Valley. They were hosts to a number of concert organization celebrations. There is a special bond between those who support and enjoy the arts.
She had a love of all animals and over the years provided a home for half a dozen Lasa Apsos, 4 miniature poodles, and a couple of cats.
Her great love in life was her son Jeremy, his wife, Holly, and her two grandchildren, Trinity and Paige. She traveled numerous times to visit them in Macclenny Florida and took the grands on Florida vacations to Crystal River, Key West, and Panama City.
