Charlotte Gunderson

On the night of January 28th, 2022, Charlotte Gunderson passed away in a Grand Junction hospital with her family by her side after she lost her fight with COVID.  Born in Dickinson, ND and raised on the family farm in Glen Ullin, Charlotte grew up surrounded by the love of her parents, brother, and sister. Despite being raised on a farm, Charlotte never did find a connection to the furry, four legged residents; instead, she decided to carry on the mission of guidance and encouragement that she learned so early on. This innate ability to show compassion towards others led Charlotte to understand and pursue her calling as a teacher.   Shortly after graduating in 1968 with a degree from Dickinson State University, she married her beloved Milo. Together, Charlotte and Milo ventured around a few states before deciding that Black Hawk, SD was the place they wanted to raise their cherished daughter, Wendy.

Throughout her entire career, Charlotte taught second grade. She enjoyed finding and often designing new tools to make learning fun and exciting for her students. She loved her students and making connections that lasted for many years.

Charlotte’s resolute faith was an admiration for those around her. She found joy in her own learning through bible studies, church services and daily radio programs on the local christian station.

Her endless love was fully felt by those dearest to her. She is survived by her loving family.
