Cecil Ross Monger, age 99 died May 14 at 7:35 AM. Cecil was born December 15, 1923, by Nelson Dixon Monger and Pearl Steele in Wellston Oklahoma.At the age of five his family of nine moved from Oklahoma to Dove Creek Colorado and built a life there.
At the age of 19 Cecil joined the Navy, just before World War II. He was in Pearl Harbor Hawaii when Japan struck. He was on the USS Raleigh, when the ship was struck with a torpedo. It was limped in with a tugboat. He was in the middle of the battle for the duration.
After that he went back to the farm. When Cecil grew up and found out what he wanted to do, he started buying trucks and hauling cedar post. He had a fleet of trucks and made a living.
In years to come he opened a liquor store in Mack Colorado with his wife and three children. After the kids were raised, he sold the liquor store and built a trailer park. He spent most of his years developing it.
Cecil’s favorite past time with us boating and water skiing. Cecil’s personality would rule the room and he would try to be kind to all.
Cecil is preceded in death by his sisters; Beatrice (Sissy), Willadean, Helen May (Gran), Perlline, Betty Jo, his brother ND Monger and his daughter Lesa Monger.
Cecil is survived by Viola Gale (ex-wife) their son Ross Monger and his wife (Ann) and children, also Janice Rees and her children, Adeana Vaught and her children, Jud Vaught and Marshal Friend.
