1946 Carolyn 2025

Carolyn Louise Stott

February 24, 1946 — December 21, 2025

Carolyn Louise (Peck) Stott, of Battlement Mesa, Colorado, passed on Sunday, December 21, 2025. She was a loving wife, the best mother and mother-in-law, a beloved Nana and the greatest great-Nana; a phenomenal teacher, the kindest friend, and devoted family to all who knew her.

Carolyn was born to Carson Stewart and Willamae (Witt) Peck in Salina, Kansas, on February 24, 1946. She was their only child.

She met and married the love of her life, Glenn Stott, in a whirlwind romance — just four months from their first date to their wedding day. They spent more than 54 years together. Their deep affection for one another, unconditional love, and shared strength laid a beautiful foundation for their family to emulate.

In her own words, Carolyn’s greatest pleasures in life were family-related. From her loving parents, to her marriage to Glenn, the birth of their son Michael, and the addition of his wife, Jessica, she felt life was complete. That joy grew with the arrival of two beautiful grandchildren, Andrew and Sophia. When Andrew brought his wife, Asia, into their little circle — followed by the addition of two great-grandchildren, Hudson Glenn and Elliette Josephine — her happiness was amplified beyond measure.

Carolyn was a teacher in the Roaring Fork School District for 32 years, spending most of her career teaching second grade at Basalt Elementary School. She was the kind of teacher who would step into the hallway mid-lesson, only to return moments later transformed into a special character to help her students learn. By countless accounts throughout the valley — and in a surprising number of places beyond — she was a favorite teacher to many.

She lived an incredibly active social life, especially after she and Glenn retired to Parachute, Colorado, in 2004. She was a member of several book clubs, bunco groups, and her TOPS crew, forming lasting friendships wherever she went.

Carolyn loved Christmas. Every year, she created a Santa scavenger hunt or a funny skit for her family to perform. One of the most treasured gifts she gave her children and grandchildren was a homemade batch of their favorite cookies, lovingly made year after year.

She was infinitely selfless and always made it a point to take care of others. Carolyn was the kind of person who truly meant it when she smiled.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law, Lonnie Stott; her sister-in-law and her husband, Dixie and Joe Fiou. She is survived by her husband, Glenn Stott, son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jessica Stott; grandson, Andrew Stott and his wife, Asia; granddaughter, Sophia Stott; two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Elliette; sister-in-law and her husband, Martha and Doug Pratt; sister-in-law, Alice Stott; and several nieces and nephews.

An open house–style celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held Saturday, April 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Grand Valley Recreation Center, 398 Arroyo Drive, Battlement Mesa, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carolyn’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
