Billy Joe Curby

July 28, 1985 — June 26, 2024

Billy Joe Curby peacefully passed away, surrounded by loved ones on June 26, 2024. He had come to terms with his illness and the fate it was sure to bring. He continued to show his surprising sense of humor until the end. Billy enjoyed engaging in gaming and reading, allowing his imagination to run wild. Going into nature for camping trips engulfed Billy in serenity, enabling him to relax from his high stress job as a general manager in the service industry. His great work ethic and leadership skills earned him management roles in several restaurants. But his favorite was working at Oklahoma University preparing meals and inventing amazing recipes for the students in Greek housing. He thrived and looked forward to going to work. His quick wit was rarely matched and would often result in belly aching laughter. His kind soul made him a friend that we were blessed to have.  Billy entered this world in Laramie, Wyoming, on July 28,1985, arriving with a zest for life that encouraged us all. His special bond with his sister, Sabrina, was uniquely unbreakable to the end. The love of his life and long time girlfriend, Amber Strasser, was the perfect mate for him. They had many wonderful adventures together. His daughter, Lorenzi, was the apple of his eye, and he loved being her dad. Billy was a special brother-in-law to Dave and a dependable uncle to his nephews.  Billy is survived by his soul mate Amber Strasser, mom Patricia Curby-Thorne, "Grandpa" Ron Stauffer, sister Sabrina Stauffer-Kroll and her husband Dave, daughter Lorenzi Curby, nephews Cameron Erchul & Taylor Kroll, bestfriend Robby Hall and great niece Paisley Erchul.  He is proceeded in death by his dad Joseph Curby, grandparents Marie Curby, Bill Gallegos, Alma Williams, William A. Williams, and Aunt Penny Plumley.  On September 7, 2024, there will be a potluck starting at 11 A.M. in the Pavillion of The RV Ranch located in Clifton Co. His celebration of life will be combined with this meal.  His beautiful smile and hearty laughter will be missed by his family and friends. Please continue your prayers for those who loved him.  See ya on the other side, Billy!
