Ben Donald Sellers

Ben Donald Sellers, age 95, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at HopeWest Hospice surrounded by his loving family. 

Ben was born on October 26, 1930, in Hayden, Colorado to Ben and Mary Sellers. He attended Mesa College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mesa College also introduced him to Patricia (Patti) Pinkerton and they married September 2, 1951. They moved to Boulder in 1952 attending CU and moved to Ohio in 1953 where he served honorably in the United States Army. They returned to Colorado in 1955 and settled in Montrose. In 1970, the family moved to Grand Junction where he continued a long and dedicated career with Mountain Bell and was admired for his steadfast work ethic and commitment. 

Ben found great joy in hunting, fishing, camping trips, and exploring backcountry jeep trails in the San Juans with his family. He and Patti spent many miles on the road exploring America in their RV including a trip to Alaska. Another highlight of their travels included a trip to Russia.

He was involved in many community organizations including the Elks, U.S West Telephone Pioneers of America (President) and Mesa College Alumni (President).

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Diane (Dale) Loucks of Gold Canyon, Arizona; sons Rex (Jamine) Sellers of Fruita, Colorado; and Danny (Robin) Sellers of Grand Junction, Colorado. His legacy lives on through eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Ben was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia Sellers. He is survived by his sisters Viola Koets and JoAnn Grenemyer.

A memorial service will be held on January 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Brown’s Funeral Home, 904 N 7th Street. Burial will follow that afternoon in Delta, Colorado.
