Audrey Mullis, 93, of Grand Junction, Colorado passed away peacefully on August 5th, 2026. 

We are deeply saddened to share our loss of Audrey Barron Mullis, age 93, of Grand Junction, CO. She was predeceased in death by Jim, her soulmate of 50 years and her beloved son, Steve Bang. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Kim (Little) Bang, Lori (Assenmacher) Bang, Clay (Marianne) Mullis and Nicole (Anderson) Mullis as well as her cherished grandchildren Chad, Kyle, Troy, Kylie, Sydney, Haley, Madison, Jesse, Errett, Clayton and great grandchildren. She will be remembered with much love by her sister, Elaine Barron Auerbach as well as her niece and nephew and their families who, even though never lived close physically, were cherished dearly. Audrey will also be remembered with love by her many very good friends who ran a very close second to her family in having a significant impact on her life. She wanted all her family and friends to know she loved them very much.

 Audrey was born on June 8, 1933 to William A Barron and Anna Buchanan Barron in Verona, NJ. She spent 3 very happy summers working at a ranch in Granby, CO where she fell in love with Colorado, horses, square dancing and water skiing.

 Audrey married George Bang and had three children: Steve, Kim and Lori. She later divorced and in 1969 she married Jim Mullis. He had a son, Clay, and seven years later they celebrated the birth of their daughter, Nicole. They became a blended family whom she cherished very much. Audrey, who excelled at math, enjoyed a long work history doing computer support, programming and accounting. She started her own company and kept abreast of the rapidly changing computer world, learning and growing to support many businesses in the area. Audrey spent many enjoyable years honing her accounting and computer skills and was an asset to several non-profits and other local businesses. The long business relationships had significant influences on her professional career and it offered her a great opportunity to increase the part of her life not related to family and thereby establishing additional personal friendships that further enriched her life. All of these people should know how important they were in her life. 

Audrey enjoyed almost all sports and was a daily face at “the club” (Crossroads Fitness Center) where she formed lasting friendships and shared adventures outside of “the club” including golf, tennis, monthly lunches and a team member of the Nifty Fifties annual partners fundraiser event. Audrey lived for her daily walk up the hill, affectionately referred to as “Little Audrey Hill” by Jim. She always had a dog by her side and shared a deep connection with her adopted rescue Gypsy who gave her so much comfort and joy. Audrey was the glue of family gatherings, and hosted a lively Christmas Eve party for her children and grandchildren each year. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Audrey took up a new skill in learning all things Zoom so she could join her family virtually, participating in trivia, game shows, and fantasy football.

 Services: A private family celebration of life will be held in honor of Audrey.
