Audrey Kay Vickers Heermans was born in Geneseo, NY in 1931 to James Edward Vickers and Edna Madeline Townsend Vickers. She enjoyed music, playing piano, clarinet and singing. She attended Potsdam College where she studied voice.

Audrey married John Wm Heermans on September 22, 1951 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Geneseo, New York.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, John Wm Heermans, and is survived by her five children: Jeff Heermans, Andrew Heermans, Alison Peacock, Stuart Heermans, Chris Heermans. She loved to be with her 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. One of her great joys was to remember everyone at Christmas and their birthdays; she loved to shop for presents.

Audrey's Episcopal churches have always been very important in her life no matter where she lived. She was passionate about the music programs and especially active in the choirs. She was a mother hen to all the families with young children in the congregation, making sure all felt welcomed and loved.

She loved to host friends at her home with lots of food and welcomed many who did not have close family relatives nearby into her heart, home and family. Audrey was an avid knitter and crafter participated in which ever groups each church had.

Audrey was first and foremost a mom who took her job seriously. She also worked at the Lafayette, CO Elementary School as a teacher's aide, and in Bluffton, SC at the Church of the Cross preschool.

A memorial service will be held at Church of the Nativity in Grand Junction, CO at 9:30am on November 13. A reception will be held afterwards at the church. Please come and share your stories.
