Antonio Romero

June 1, 1950 — February 16, 2022

Antonio “Tony” Juan Romero, age 71, passed away surrounded by family, Wednesday, February 16, 2022.

He was a devoted Son, Brother, Dad (Buddy), Grandpa, Uncle and Friend. Born June 1, 1950, in Truchas, New Mexico to the late Cipriano and Sabinita Romero.

Tony lived in Cortez, Colorado and was retired from the Colorado Department of Transportation.

He was passionate about many things and was always willing to try something new. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, taking drives in the mountains, traveling to New Mexico and several places in Colorado. He raised birds and rabbits. He made wine (even raised bees with his friend Joe, to have honey to make Mead, a honey wine.) He was an amazing gardener, growing many different things such as hay, potatoes, onions, garlic, tomatillos and so much more. But was most proud of his enormous pumpkins and the tallest corn any of us have ever seen.

Tony kept his family and dear friends closest to his heart. Especially his Granddaughters and Great Grandson. He will be missed by so many.

Antonio is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Harold) Romero. Granddaughters Erika (Michael) Marcella and Emily Romero. Great Grandson Masynn Marcella. Brothers Ray (Lilian) Romero, Delfin Romero and Larry (Jacky) Romero. Sister Becky (Charley) Velasquez. Along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sabinita (Barela) Romero, his father Cipriano Romero and sisters Viola and Mary Romero.

He will be laid to rest in Truchas, New Mexico.
