Lois Meisner

Lois I. Meisner Lois was born on September 1, 1933 to Ray E. Biber and Peg Biber in Kearney, Nebraska. She passed away on November 14, 2015, at the HopeWest Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, CO. Lois moved to Grand Junction with her mother, stepfather and sister, where she graduated from Grand Junction High School and then later, Mesa Junior College, as it was known back then. In 1954 she took a job with Union Carbide in Rifle, Colorado. She made many lifelong friends at "Carbide", and she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Meisner in Rifle. They were married on July 4th, 1955 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. They made their home in Rifle where their daughter, Robin, was born. They lived in Rifle for many years. Lois worked in accounting at Cleveland Cliffs Iron. After that company relocated, she worked as a "temp" several places, and finally Bob convinced her to get her real estate license and join him at their business "Rifle Realty". She retired from Rifle Realty, and she and Bob moved to Grand Junction. Lois was very artistic and enjoyed painting watercolors, making stained glass pieces, fabric arts and quilting, and reading. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed entertaining. Lois and Bob enjoyed their many: jeep: trips and trips with the Grand Junction Gem and Mineral Club, and their summer spent in Alaska. Lois also traveled extensively with family and friends to Russia, England, Scotland and Ireland. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jerry, a nephew Steven, and her husband Bob. She is survived by their daughter Robin (Jeff Hoelscher) Jenkins, grandsons Ryan (Michelle) VanTeylingen, Rifle and Chance (Courtney) Jenkins, Silt, and great grandchildren Kyle VanTeylingen, and Caeson and Cada Jenkins, her brother Jim (Dora) Biber of Grand Junction, and Sister Sharol Biber of Aurora. She is further survived by sisters-in-law Natalie Meisner of Ventura California, and Sally Meisner of Cypress, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2016.
